Sorry I haven't blogged in a while i have been extremely busy!

I have just recently started back in my second and last year of college of studying fashion. i absolutely loved my first year, i made new friends and have learnt so much to help me design and make things.
In my first year of college i made 3 garments/accessories. i made a patch work backpack, a skirt and a top, which were worn down the end of year fashion show. (which was amazing!)
I didn't have anything to really blog about so i thought i would tell and show you pictures of the things i have made in my first year of college.
1st project-Patchwork backpack, inspired by Cath Kidston and Native American.
2nd project- Denim circle skirt, inspired by the 80s.
3rd project-Top with Yellow chiffon draped back, inspired by the 80s.

Tie Dying!

As it was such a sunny and gorgeous day yesterday, me and my chum Chanelle (Blog linked below) thought we would be very creative and tie dye some plain tops. It was really fun and the outcome was amazing and was very cheap to create. Tie dye tops pretty much go with anything and look really effective in the summer!
There are many techniques when doing tie dye, but we focused on the spiral technique. We also created a dip dyed top, by dipping certain parts of the top into the dye.

Equipment you will need!
  • Plain white tops
  • Dyes- colours of your choice
  • Hot water
  • Salt
  • Elastic bands
  • Spoons and bowls

How to do it!

1. Lay your top on a flat surface and pinch in the center, then start to twist where you have pinched to create a 'spiraled bun' shape.
2. Tie elastic bands around the spiraled bun so that it all holds together.

3. Pour hot water into a bowl. Add salt and a spoonful of the dye you want then mix. Use a separate bowl for the different colours you wish to use.
4. Using a spoon to apply the dye onto the sections that you wish to have that colour Don't forget to dye the back as well as the front.

5. Leave to dry for approximately 30-60 minutes.

6. Untie and rinse under cold water until it runs clear.
7.Leave to dry.
8. When dry, iron to keep the dye in place!

Homemade frilly socks!

I own many pairs of frilly socks but unfortunately they began to become tatty and holes started appear. I adore the Topshop frilly socks i just think they are slightly over priced. I decided to make my own DIY socks! i brought some pastel coloured socks from Primark priced at £2.50 and some cute multicoloured lace from a haberdashery market in my town for just 50p a metre. I stretched the socks out using an old tub and sewed the lace on to the socks by hand which created a ruffled effect. I am extremely please with the outcome of my homemade frilled socks!(:
